How Much Saw Palmetto Per Day? Trial Doses vs Capsule Labels

How much saw palmetto did the large trials use per day?
They used 320 mg of extract a day, the standard dose. The 2006 trial gave 160 mg twice a day for one year (Bent et al., NEJM 2006).
The CAMUS trial stepped men up to three doses of 320 mg, so the top step was 960 mg a day. By 72 weeks scores fell 2.20 points on the herb and 2.99 on placebo (Barry et al., JAMA 2011 (CAMUS)).
So more did not mean better, and Cochrane found little or no difference across 27 trials (Cochrane review, Franco 2023).
